Subject: PTPH2 Form: Release into DCS and Internet circulation
Importance: High

Good afternoon,

My colleague Martin Willis from the HMCTS Legal Professional relations team kindly passed on your details to enable contact with you.

I want to inform you that the Senior Presiding Judge (SPJ) has recently approved the release of a revised Plea and Trial Preparatory Hearing form (PTPH2) for use in the Crown Court; following from a Judicial Office consultation in 2016 during which a wide range of views were considered.  A sizable number of the changes are enhancements asked for by users, and the form will also now incorporate features required by changes to Criminal Procedure Rules or Practice Directions.

The form will start to be used from 22 July by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), and there will be a transitional period which means that users may not begin to see new the new forms on the Digital Case System (DCS) until about 29 July, when it will be fully deployed.  The form will also be available on the Criminal Procedure Rule Committee ‘Forms’ page as a Word document for non-DCS cases.

In the lead up to implementation I will share more information with you around the available guidance and tools (around Monday 15 July), and I would be most grateful for you to cascade these messages as relevant.  The SPJ has also communicated an initial message to the legal professional community, which I’ve attached for your information. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you, my regards,

Ibrahim
