My secretary was told yesterday - when she finally got through - that the new company have installed a mere three members of staff. It took around 10 minutes to log a case, so it seems they’re unfamiliar with the processes

Dear Members,

The LAA has asked for the DSCC references (or temporary references!) of any examples we have of the DSCC serious failings over the last few days.

In particular, the references of any cases where the detainee turned out not to be at the police station specified, cases where the detainee was processed before the solicitor eventually called and any where you have been asked to act without a DSCC reference at the time would be very useful.

The more real examples we can throw at them the better.

If you are willing to share these references, please email Kerry Hudson at khudson@bullivantlaw.com before end of business on Monday as we understand a meeting has been arranged with the LAA on Tuesday.

With kinds regards,

Kerry Hudson – VP LCCSA

Subject: DSCC system failures

Dear Members,

We are aware of the ongoing problems with the DSCC. We have contacted the LAA and The Law Society seeking further guidance as to how to proceed whilst the issues are ongoing.

In the meantime, we suggest you take steps to contact those police stations covered by your scheduled slots directly to notify them you are the Duty and provide a direct contact number. If the police are unable to get through to obtain a DSCC reference number and deploy you directly,  or the DSCC are unable to provide you with a number, please email dscc.enquiries@teamhgs.com to request a reference number and keep clear records of any problems arising. It is perhaps advisable to obtain the section of the custody record which records the client nominating your firm or requesting  the duty solicitor, just in case the LAA query it.

We would also suggest you email your LAA Contract Manager with any specific case difficulties so there is a clear record when it comes to billing.

Kind regards,
