A 2 hour CPD Course taught by Bruce Reid.

Remand advocacy probably occupies 90% if not more of all criminal court proceedings, but whilst there is a wealth of material on how to conduct trials and skeleton arguments etc. there is comparatively little practical advice on how to conduct that 90%.
Bruce has been teaching these courses for several years and this will follow the usual format. It is aimed at the newly qualified or Duty Solicitor aspirational, but those nearing qualification will find that it forestalls terror on their first few weeks and it will benefit older hacks who have been tied to record keeping at the expense of court room practice.
Bruce aims to teach how to structure a hearing and yet leave sufficient room for inspiration. Following his approach, taking instructions will occupy minutes, not hours and the information gathered will be far more pertinent.

Delegates will be pleased to know that little ' Law' will be taught - you are expected to know all that already.

Case study based, it is interactive but not intimidating. No 'performance' will be expected but delegates will be expected to set out their approach to problems and justify them in what amounts to a Q and A session. Bruce hates the idea of a 'safe space' - there is none of that in a court room - but this will be a supportive not a competitive environment.
