Subject: Re: Any answers -clearly not
Hi
I was court duty at Willesden mags this morning
The gaolers happily provided hand gel on request - thank you
They had received no advice on how to deal with someone with covid 19 nly told don’t get ill
No sanitisers in court for bench , legal adviser , cps ,list caller and definitely not myself and the other defence lawyers.
I am sure this was replicated across England and Wales
Shame on all apparently obliged to consider health and safety
Does one of us have to die before the authorities take action

That's really good.
But we also need to mention prison visits.
I spoke to a client in Pentonville yesterday.
He told me there's been nothing at all done there. What a surprise.

I have sent this email in today and had a call asking if I would go on air. I’m not good at that sort of stuff so asked if I could get someone else. Not enough time today but they may read out my email and want someone for next week. volunteer pleas.
The Government seems to have no plans in place at all for maintaining the criminal justice system with safeguarding of those working in the system in mind.
Yesterday, at three London magistrates Courts, positive or suspected coronavirus detainees were brought to court from police stations exposing multiple people to the virus.
The courts are run down and dirty through years of neglect and criminal defence lawyers are an ageing and at risk population due to years of legal aid cuts which has deterred new entrants.
This week, at one court lawyers had to make a formal request for soap in the bathrooms. Requests for hand sanitisers in court buildings have been refused.
Criminal defence lawyers, are required to continue to attend police stations and courts to represent often the most at risk cohort of the population, even when they have been positively diagnosed, otherwise they face sanctions.
Kindest Regards
Ros
