Yes we had a case at Islington today as well and they were very difficult. In the end we stood our ground and they eventually agreed to do things by telephone albeit said that they didn’t have a phone for interview. Apparently the officers said it’s too dangerous to have a phone in interview. Pathetic!

We were on call today.

Chap gets arrested for grave & weighty matter (theft from m/v). An officer rings to say ready for i/view, I ask him to clarify why the Police think it is proportionate to take the risk of having 4 people in close proximity in a room for such a minor matter & why not simply BTR chap to a safer time.

After a bit of discussion I get put onto officer`s colleague, who cannot offer me any explanation other than “we have been told to interview”…I suggest asking for the input from a Sgt or Inspector. They agree to do that & promise to call me back once they have done that.

Next thing is the DSCC ring me to say that the cops have told them that we are refusing to attend and that they want the call deployed to a back up duty solicitor!
