I have also made a formal complaint to my contract manager at LAA re manner in which DSCC have been operating – both their casual ‘he’s Covid-19 negative’ diagnoses (clearly, they’ve no actual idea), and their complete failure to make even a basic enquiry as to the reasons when police call them saying solicitors are ‘refusing’ to attend. My colleague had this the other night – DSCC saying we were not entitled to hold on to the ref number and trying to force the handing over of the case. A manager fortunately over-turned this as soon as became involved, but really ... If you are signed up to the LCCSA protocol and it would help, please contact me directly and happy to share with you.

I also asked CM to confirm that – in a situation which arose that the telephone reception failed meaning we could not be ‘in’ interview despite officer’s best efforts – a full fee will be payable. As you may have experienced yourselves, the antagonistic attitude of many custody sgts and the inherent difficulties mean remote attendances are currently proving to be even more time consuming. Might be worth others seeking similar clarification.
