Dear Members,
A quick update for you today – other than it being Chris Grayling’s birthday (!)
Tests are continuing of the Cloud Video Platform (CVP) https://www.lccsa.org.uk/cloud-video-platform/ which will eventually allow video link from the police station to Magistrates’ Court for first appearances.
Tests will be carried out on real cases from Brixton Police Station to Croydon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday 2nd April 2020). See link for information about how CVP will work: [insert link to PDF doc attached] and you can also find a video containing online training materials and a short guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpRTHL-w1KY&
Work and engagement continues on a National Protocol with regards to police station attendances and CPS charging policy. We are hopeful for an imminent announcement on this.
In the meantime, we continue to encourage members to follow the approach outlined in our Joint Message to Members on 26.03.2020:
https://www.lccsa.org.uk/a-message-from-the-lccsa-clsa-attending-police-stations-magistrates-courts/
And to sign up to our ongoing list of firms who support this message:
An updated “Version 3” of this letter was published earlier today with 77 firms now in support of our Joint Message.
Finally, well done Camden-based firms for the excellent article in the Camden New Journal today:
