Just so that everyone is up to date, re Croydon MC, it appears that they can only attempt remote/videolink work with Walworth and Brixton, because the facilities at Croydon PS are broken and need some form of maintenance/fixing.

 

Therefore, be aware that, if you are Croydon duty, but for Croydon borough, you will still have to go into the cells to see the clients.  There is a room with full glass partition – kind of like the closed visit scenario in a jail – but you may have to wait your turn to use it.

Re: Custody Duty Solicitors, we are endeavouring to provide the ability for remote custody duty service. At present we are testing this at Croydon Magistrates’ Court with overnights from Brixton and Walworth Road Police stations. We are also hoping to start the process at Bromley Magistrates’ Court later on this week.
