Hi All

Can I just apologise for my comment below about those assisting the profession, by volunteering and being a part of The LCCSA. I believe in a united profession and us all sticking together and joining forces for good and as has been pointed out to me by someone whose opinion I respect, my comment does not reflect that.

I am sorry.

Yes my rape trial could have been over but now won’t end until end of October…

Can we kick whoever is in charge of the LCCSA and see if they can ballot us about something?? Direct action is the only thing that will get us our much needed pay rise and at this stage the Bar will be the only ones to benefit! Bring back Kerry is what I say ;0)

Snaresbrook CC called us today regarding an e-mail we sent to the Court in September 2021! It really is worrying.

My other issue is that many cases are going off for in excess of 6 months between Trial and Sentence which means we cannot bill the file with the LAA and it is causing cashflow problems. Are others experiencing this?

For personal reasons I was not able to chase this up at the time or in the months that followed but I do think we need to do something.

I laughed when Rabb introduced scorecards for cases etc as it did occur to me that we and the bar should introduce a similar system for each court will all have to deal with and each CPS.

It would be a great joint initiative for the bar and sols to work on which might generate publicity if we can find a sensible way of doing it.

Perhaps the LCCSA should write a letter on their paper and firms can add their name to it before it goes. The more firms the better.

Hello

I agree that something needs to be done. I don’t see how things are going to get any better anytime soon unless we start again somewhere. I have emailed on cases to list for plea which would free up trial slots and still cant get a response and cant get anybody on the phone either most days

Hi All

I think we need to do something about Snaresbrook as matters are completely out of hand. We had a rape trial which was fixed for 9 months end up in a floating trial Court on Monday – which has now been fixed in October 22! The allegation dates back to 2016 so it will be more than 6 years when it comes to trial.

We have also had another case a domestic which was fixed for Monday at Snaresbrook which wasn’t even listed. We have tried for the last 3 days to get an answer as to why the case wasn’t listed. On Friday we were told they were busy and then they hung up!

Is Snaresbrook the worst Court for admin? We have been trying to get through to Snaresbrook for 1 hour 35 mins this morning (we have now given up). It always takes an hour (well on Monday and Tuesday we gave up after 1 hour 30 minutes because clearly phones are turned off). Emails aren’t answered (they say they will in 5 days!).

I know in December 2020 a few of us had a zoom meeting with HHJ Zeidman but things are worse than ever. Does anyone fancy signing a letter complaining about how unacceptable it is that lawyers cannot reach the Court? Its just bleeding hours of time.

Paul Harris did an amazing job previously and I think it worked for a while…

Kindest,
