Totally agree, Peter. Lawyers dressed up in wigs and gowns will make us all look like over-paid, out of touch idiots. i really hope the bar don't do that. Just embarrassing!

Subject: Walk out 27th June
Dear Colleagues
I am emailing in a personal capacity . Please consider walking out on Monday . Downing tools . The Bar council have threatened sanctions against barristers who walk out . We are demonstrating in support of their actions and for our own future sustainability at the old bailey on Monday . I might be naïve and idealistic but what is the worst that can happen if you turn off phones and delay your court appointments ? A toothless contract notice putting your ability to work at already derisory rates at risk ? That is the point , no one wants to do the work at these rates do they ? A critical mass walking away from contract requirements would probably make it difficult to come after everyone .
Please do join the zoom to discuss Monday ‘s demonstration at 5.30 today
