Dear all,
I have had a legal visit this afternoon at HMP Wandsworth where I was not permitted to enter with my laptop on security grounds.
It has transpired the prison has been audited earlier this afternoon, and the staff have been told that legal visitors shall not be permitted to take in their laptops without clearance.
Unfortunately, exactly what that clearance amounts to I couldn’t quite get to the bottom of after speaking to staff. The pro-forma used previously that applied to a number of prisons may suffice, although I know that has not been required
for a number of years, at least at HMP Wandsworth.
I am just emailing to spread the word as it caused me difficulties today.
Thanks
James Chaplin
