Subject: Witness interviews covered by public funding?

Dear members,

Some help please.

Parents have been interviewed by police in relation to allegations of child neglect.

Police want to speak to 17 year old daughter ( sibling of alleged victim) as a witness, and to determine whether there are any safeguarding concerns regarding the 17 year old.

17 year old has declined to speak to the police at school but is willing to speak to them at the police station

Questions

Is the 17 year old entitled to have a solicitor present during her interview with the police?

Will any such representation be covered  under legal aid.
