The Virtual Court cases are called through by the DSCC and you decide whether to attend the Court or Police Station. If the case is not likely to conclude immediately need to go to Police Station usually at least to sign up for legal aid.

I’ve never been clear on this; I think the official line is that you are called in if required but in reality they’ll just ask the Duty for whichever Court the case is listed in to deal with these cases. I haven’t done a video case as Duty Solicitor for ages.

I wrote to the LAA about this last year – answer came there none…

Subject: Central London duty rota and 'Westminster VC' slots

Has anyone received any information from the LAA or the court about these new slots?

I am on the Central London scheme but not the Westminster MC rota.

It is not clear if I am to report to the court at 9am or if I am to wait for calls to attend a police station.  It seems strange that this is not handled by a court duty solicitor.  I can’t get any information from the court.
