Dear All

We have a vacancy at our firm for a 0 to 3 year PQE solicitor to work largely in the criminal department but also within in our private welfare benefits department (with training where necessary). Duty qualification and police station accreditation is not essential. Please circulate among interested parties.

We have a Criminal Law Solicitor vacancy  in our friendly, effective and successful team. We are prepared to consider newly qualified solicitor applicants and those with up to 3 years post qualification experience.

Moss & Co’s criminal department is based in their Hackney offices where it has been established for over 24 years. If successful you will join a  team of six criminal  fee earners. Over time you will conduct the whole range of criminal work. This ranges from the gravest offences to the bread and butter work of the  magistrates court. Moss & Co allow fee earners to develop their own case load across the Magistrates and Crown Court subject only to ability.

In addition to the criminal department we have a busy housing department as well as providing advice and assistance in the areas of police complaints and welfare benefits. Our combination of civil and criminal law expertise allows us to offer a niche service in the areas of welfare benefits, benefit fraud and social housing fraud.

The successful candidate will be willing to commit to staying with the firm and to qualify as a duty solicitor at the first opportunity. They will work well under supervision and show an interest in our related fields of practice including  housing and  welfare benefit fraud and privately funded advice and representation. We are looking for a candidate who can train and work within the welfare benefits department, offering advice on welfare benefit matters and providing assistance with challenging benefit decisions.

The appointee  will be willing to develop their advocacy skills and to take part in the firm’s out of hours own client and duty rotas. They will attend the magistrates court and police station on  a daily basis in addition to preparing their cases for trial in the Crown Court.  We place emphasis on solicitors developing an understanding of the commercial imperatives of legal aid work. It is important that solicitors demonstrate an understanding of their clients’ needs and the necessary skill set for excellent client retention.

Applications may be made by completion of the form available here or by e mailing aryeh.moss@mosslaw.co.uk using the subject line ”Criminal Solicitor”.

Applications should be made by 30 May unless the post is filled sooner.

We are an equal opportunities employer.

Thank you
