We are concerned about the effect of what is often referred to as the 14 hours-per-week rule for duty solicitors. Anecdotally we hear members have problems with its implementation
and the definition of what counts towards it (or lack of).
The LCCSA were not formally consulted on this term in the contract but from the outset we consistently made clear our view that this was unnecessary and a disproportionate measure
to remove ‘ghosts’ from the rota. We are willing to speak out on behalf of those practicing in London who are unfairly affected by it in order to seek an acceptable compromise with the LAA.
