Dear members,
On behalf of the LCCSA I sit on an MOJ engagement group which provides us with advance notice of their intentions.
Please find attached a letter about a forthcoming consultation that affects Blackfriars Crown Court. We as an association will consider it and respond in due course. I would
encourage you all to respond as individuals or please let us know how you feel.
This proposal has to be viewed in conjunction with other reforms being considered such as fully virtual hearings in the Crown Court (where no one will be physically present in
a court room), online plea and mode of trial procedures or the Flexible Operating Hours pilots. When taken together it is of concern that these reforms could deny our clients proper access to the courts and proper engagement in their cases.
Kind regards,
Mark Troman
LCCSA Secretary
