This last week Croydon custody cases have been appearing at Camberwell – or at least some of them have………….

 

A case that has the Defence have been told is a physical appearance at Croydon is promptly listed as a virtual at Camberwell and then bounced back to Croydon when the live link fails. It all depends on what the Custody officer has for breakfast……..

 

Nick and I will liase in these circumstances to provide cover but you would be well advised to double check where your client was last heard of before you set out yourself. The cells number for Camberwell was 0207 805 9880 but that was waterlogged last week, occasionally you could get through on 0207 703 2487 which is the usual fax number but for obvious reasons the Gaoler’s staff sometimes don’t answer.

 

You couldn’t make this up.

We generally charge £50 per hearing with VAT as appropriate although we reserve the right to charge an additional fee in cases where there is greater difficulty - this will be rare. Trials and S36/39 hearings by arrangement. We can assist with Duty Solicitor swaps/cover subject to LAA Contract Compliance, please contact us individually for each particular Court. Our voicemail message will always confirm whether we are at that Court
