Sadly I know this journey too well.

Kings Cross to Cambridge

Cambridge to Newmarket

Taxi from Newmarket (about 25 mins).

You can order taxis for the station or wealk into town centre (10 mins) and there is a rank.

If you leave at the end of a 2-4 visit, you willjust miss the newmarket to Cambrdige train and have to wait another hour (ie approx 5.10pm).

Like I said, done this one too often…
