Dear Members,
The LCCSA recently made written representations to the Law Society Criminal Practitioners Group on suggested changes to the current contract to tackle problems that many were experiencing in relation to the 14 hour contract work requirement for Duty Solicitors.
TLS have submitted a written response to the LAA consultation and we now await the outcome.
The discriminatory effects of 14 hours remain a daily concern for many.
We are now calling for updated solicitors’ and firms’ experiences in meeting the hours, handing of compliance issues by LAA contract managers and firms’ experiences of sanctions and clawbacks.
All submissions will be treated in strictest confidence, but if you are happy for us to use your anonymised evidence in submissions to the Law Society, LAA, Equalities and Human Rights Commission and Select Committees please ensure this is clear in your response.
Many thanks in advance,
Theresa Hendrickx
LCCSA Committee
