Dear Members,

The SRA have invited the Law Society to comment upon a revision to the standards for accreditation of police station representatives. They have in turn sought our views.  I am sure among our members there are those who would take an interest in this.

Matthew Hardcastle will prepare comments on behalf of the LCCSA but would welcome input and support from members.  If you want to comment on some or all of the attached please email him directly - MHardcastle@kingsleynapley.co.uk.

I provide below the message which was sent by the SRA along with these documents.

Kind regards

Mark Troman

Attached are nine units, one knowledge based unit (unit 1), one pervasive skills unit (unit 2), and then seven skills units (units 3 – 9) reflecting the work carried out by a Police station Representative.

The format for each unit is the same throughout, ie, Assessment Outcomes, assessment criteria which hang off the assessment outcome and the expected knowledge understanding and skills required to be able to fulfil the assessment criteria.

I would be grateful if you could review each unit in turn for clarity and accuracy. Have we missed anything at all, which a Police Station Representative would be expected to know or be able to do and conversely, has anything ben included which you actually think is now redundant?

Please could you return your comments to me by Monday 13 August.
