Refusal to access Charing Cross custody without a face mask. Shabir Rashid 02 Dec 2021 14:27 GMT

Dear Members,

I had a experience at Charing Cross custody suite police where I was refused access for not wearing a face mask. I explained my medical exemption and showed him my exemption badge. It fell on deaf ears. He informed me the Metropolitan police have been provided guidance that states entry will be refused to anyone other than detainees who do not wear a mask irrespective of any exemption be it medical or not. I referred him to the current government guidelines regarding masks and exemptions which made no difference whatsoever. I asked for reference to the said guidance that he was relying upon and after 90 minutes of trying to look for it was unable to find what he was relying on.

I escalated this and am currently waiting to hear back from their SMT. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Regards

Shabir Rashid
