Fw: When can multiple standard fee claims be made for same client Ed Atkinson 25 Feb 2025 17:28 GMT

Dear All

I should appreciate advice or previous experience on the LAA accepting multiple claims for one client.

I appeared for two cases which were not in a series and not charged at the same time. They both pleaded and were sentenced on ,a later , same day. I billed two cases. The LAA reject this citing 10.61 of the SCC specifications namely , a single claim must be submitted where more than one case is joined.

The question is are cases joined if they are listed and sentenced together. I was thinking joined was if two cases were joined for one trial which anyway establishes a nexus.

Equally for another case I need to sort out if two cases ,not in series or charged together ,are sent to Crown Court together are they joined for 10.61 purposes.

I would greatly appreciate advice as to whether I dispute this or eat humble pie.

Thanks

Ed
